FAQ

FAQ

What is raw Pu-erh tea?

Raw Pu-erh tea is a traditional Chinese tea originating from Yunnan Province. Unlike ripe Pu-erh, raw Pu-erh is naturally aged over time and gradually develops deeper and more complex flavors. This loose leaf tea is valued for its evolving character and aging potential.

What does raw Pu-erh tea taste like?

Raw Pu-erh tea typically has a fresh and complex flavor profile. Young raw Pu-erh often features floral, vegetal, and slightly bitter notes, while aged raw Pu-erh develops smoother, sweeter, and more mellow characteristics.

How do you brew raw Pu-erh tea?

To brew raw Pu-erh tea, use water heated to around 90–95°C. Add about 4–5 grams of loose leaf tea per 150–200 ml of water. Steep for 10–20 seconds using the gongfu brewing method or 2–3 minutes using the western brewing style.

Does raw Pu-erh tea contain caffeine?

Yes, raw Pu-erh tea contains caffeine because it comes from the Camellia sinensis tea plant. The caffeine level is generally moderate and provides a gentle and balanced energy boost.

Where does raw Pu-erh tea come from?

Authentic raw Pu-erh tea is produced in Yunnan Province in southwestern China. The region is famous for its ancient tea trees and long history of Pu-erh tea production.

What is the difference between raw and ripe Pu-erh tea?

Raw Pu-erh tea ages naturally over time and develops complex flavors slowly. Ripe Pu-erh tea undergoes an accelerated fermentation process, which creates a darker, smoother, and more earthy flavor.

How many times can raw Pu-erh tea be brewed?

High quality raw Pu-erh tea can be brewed many times, often 6–10 infusions or more depending on the brewing method. Each infusion reveals new aromas and layers of flavor.
